About the story ‘Kaand’ : The story is stage adaptation based on true story about a gruesome murder that took place in Uttar Pradesh infamously known as ‘Amroha Kaand’. The act depicts two shades of the same story, one shows that how ‘Shabnam’ along with her boy friend ‘Salim’ brutally murdered seven members of her family just for the sake of getting married . She was given capital punishment by court for such heinous crime. The other aspect entails the story of ‘Usman’ ,Shabnam’s friend from college who took responsibility of her son inspite of several social hurdles & opposition. It has been eight years since Shabnam’s son is with ‘Usman’ and he is giving his best to provide him a better life. This story ends up with a question that what sort of narrative of love & dedication we want to present in front of our coming generation! Love that took life of seven members or Dedication of love and friendship that provided a new life to a child who was separated from his mother because she was in jail serving capital punishment.
